This event has now passed and seems to have been enjoyed by all who attended, which amounted to over 40% of the membership. Thank you to those who took the trouble to call us on any of the 5 bands in operation.

We were again teamed up with Bracknell ARS, who were operating as G4BRA on 6mtrs and 70cms.

Technically the event went without any major hitches and the refurbished 50, 70MHz and 1296 MHz antennas performed well.

Scores are not finalised yet but G4BRA/P on 50 MHz had almost 150 contacts with best DX into PuertoRica at 6,700 +kms at least twice and Canada and USA also in log .They think our 11 element Yagi helped a bit ......
G4RFRP on 70MHz will be claiming for approx 92 contacts .
G4RFR/P on 144 MHz notched up over 300 contacts.
G4BRA/P on 432MHz made nearly 150 contacts .
G4RFR/P worked 49 stations - best DX a PE at 600km+

We had some new members on site - Romeo Dobre , although Mr CW , spent most of the event working 1296MHz SSB - FB OM !

Our 70MHz station was given a large makeover with the use of Bob G6DUN's mobile camper van. Tony G3PFM and I joined Bob for some 70MHz operating and were able to watch the Grand Prix on the internal colour telly at the same time. The comfort improvement over the marquee, not to mention the reduction in ambient noise floor, was very FB.

The Bracknell ARS have indicated they are keen to join forces with us again next year.

Big Thanks to Julian G3YGF for stepping in at short notice on Friday to tow both the Versatower and the club caravan to site when our Vice Chairman, Jules G0NZO, was unexpectedly called away to GM land. Jules did make it to the site at 1400Hrs on Sunday and towed the Versatower back to HQ , blowing some major fluid hose on his Landy within 300m of the club ! Thanks to Tom for the rescue .

And finally thanks to big G for the WX - who would have thought our biggest problem would be Sunburn and Horse Fly bites.

Best 73
