Club Marquee Assembly

Club Marquee Parts list, Assembly diagrams , and notes.

Written by: G4RFR ( FRARS ) Thursday, 17 April 2003

There are 4 files attached:

The 2 jpeg files are one page for the parts list, and one page for the assembly sketches, and can be opened with any web browser.

The TIFF file also contains what is in the jpeg files, and, if you can read it, gives a better rendition of the sketches. Win98 has Kodak Imaging built in, and will open TIFF files.

The Word file also has a copy of these assembly notes.

Assembly Notes for New Club Marquee

The following notes were derived from a trial assembly of the marquee, by Tony Baker and Peter Clifford on 4 April 03 at FRARS. The marquee is 3m x 3m in floor area, and the roof is above head height. It has see-through side panels (windows) on two opposing sides, and each end panel has a zipped roll-up-and-tie door.

The following assembly notes should be read in conjunction with the attached TIF file, comprising the parts list and the assembly pictures. Two people are able to complete the assembly in 90mins.

Contents
The parts are contained in two boxes, and one cover bag, needing a hatch-back car for transport
The ground bar set box (optional use) - 4 pairs of bars, 4 corner pieces (feet), and 6 heavy duty ground pegs. Note, that if these ground bars are used, then the feet/corner pieces of this set replace those that would otherwise be used from the frame box set. The ground bar set is used as a more secure and tidy way of securing both the frame and the end panels and wall panels close to the ground. Although optional, there use is recommended for all situations.

The frame set box - everything, except the fabric covers, for constructing the marquee frame, including roof, legs, base plates(feet), light duty pegs, and bungees for securing the fabric cover to the frame.

The Cover Bag - roof panel, two side panels with windows, 2 front/back (gable-end) panels with zip-up doors. The 4 guys, one to each roof corner, are already attached.

Assembly Sequence/Tips

Assemble in the following order:

Stage 1:- Roof Frame: Assemble as figure 1 above.

Stage 2a:- Roof Panel: Place cover over the roof frame at Stage 1, and fix with bungees while the roof frame is at ground level, otherwise a step ladder will be needed to fix the bungees near the top of the “gables” at the apexes. It helps to lift one side of the roof frame at a time, temporarily, with two legs, placing the roof frame at a convenient working height, in order to feed and secure the bungees. Start securing at the apex of the ridge, and work away evenly down each rafter towards the walls, in order to keep the fabric roof panel positioned centrally over the apex/ridge.

Stage 2b:- End(gable) panels: These do not have see-through panels, but do have zip-up doors. Avoid assembling them “inside-out”. Make sure that the longer straps (for securing the door panels when rolled up) are on the inside, and the additional side eyelets are on the outside. These eyelets are used later to secure the End panels to the Wall panels, using bungees on the outside of both the Legs and the fabric corner pieces which hang down the outside of each of the Legs.

Stage 3:- Wall Panels. Assemble these with the eyelets on the outside. Secure the End panels to the Wall panels outside of the legs using bungees.

Stage 4:- Ground bars. These make a frame, at ground level, at the foot of the End panels and Wall panels. The Legs of the marquee stand in the corner (base plate) pieces, and are secured with bolts. The panels are secured to the ground bars with bungees in the usual way. 6 heavy duty ground pegs are used to secure the ground bars to soft ground.
